Paper Survey

To minimise any bias generated by only doing web surveys, organisations are still relying on paper as a very solid form of survey publication. It is increasingly being used in “multi mode” surveys, with perhaps a web questionnaire for those with the internet and a paper version for all others.

Paper questionnaires are designed in Snap’s Questionnaire Design window, providing a template to simply enter the text of the question and the possible answers. Different language versions can also be created as part of Snap’s “multi-mode” capability.

Reviewing the layout of the questionnaire is carried out in the Preview window, where settings can be adjusted to “stretch” or “squeeze” a questionnaire so that it fits on a particular page size.

Settings for the layout include both the number of columns and the Portrait / Landscape orientation. Snap will automatically resize the questionnaire to ensure that questions best fit on the chosen layout.

It should also be remembered that paper questionnaires are a really useful form of analysis, using Snap’s Topline Analysis to produce a printed questionnaire populated with either absolute counts or percentages. These can then be printed on paper or distributed electronically using the PDF format.
